Teacher Assistant/Transition Job Coach (Two Positions) General Description Of Position:
Assist Special Education staff and students with daily instructional and non-instructional activities related to Work Based Learning activities.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Carry out instructional support and training activities with students in the WBL setting.
Will be responsible for the supervision of students, direct, instruct and assist students while on the WBL site.
Implement training plans and collect data on student progress.
Provide assistance to teachers, transition coordinators and employers; facilitate communication and/or be a liaison for providers.
Develop WBL sites and facilitate WBL placements.
Demonstrate positive role modeling for staff and participants.
Facilitate the building of natural supports in the workplace and community.
Support and work with local educational agency teachers and administrators to follow local policies and procedures.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Maintain student behavior through appropriate and approved behavioral interventions and approved techniques.
Assist students in attaining their goals outlined in Training Plans.
Assist in the preparation of instructional materials.
Understand and be aware of medical needs of students and following medical protocol under the supervision of a nurse as appropriate.
Assist in the assessment of vocational aptitudes and interests.
Assist in the management of Training Plans and Training Agreements.
Assist in the updating of the Job Bank.
Use vehicle for development of youth employment options, as needed.
Organize a flexible schedule to include:
required file management, paperwork, required meetings, as well as meet the requirements of the individual participants.
Have a fundamental understanding, sensitivity, and genuine acceptance of people to meet the needs of individuals with barriers to employment.
Maintain regular consistent attendance and punctuality.
Maintain a professional personal appearance.
Adhere to district health and safety procedures.
Adhere to Board Policies.
Maintain Confidentiality.
MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and /or Two years experience as a teacher assistant and/or evidence of advanced related training at a degree institution whose special education instructional aide training program has been approved by the department.
PERSONAL
Qualifications:
Demonstrate ability to work effectively with students, teachers, treatment staff, and administrators.
Prefer knowledge of computer technology and software application.
Demonstrate good physical health and stamina.
Demonstrate ability to function well within a team in an educational setting.

Complaint/Grievance Procedure NoticeI.
Any person believing that the Calhoun Intermediate School District or any of the District's staff has inadequately applied the principles and/or regulations of non-discrimination laws or district non-discrimination policies may bring forward a complaint, which shall be referred to as a grievance to the district's Civil Rights Coordinator.

The person who believes s/he has a valid basis for grievance shall discuss the grievance informally and on a verbal basis with the District's Civil Rights Coordinator, who shall in turn investigate the complaint and reply with verbal answer to the complainant.
S/He may initiate formal procedures according to the following steps:
Step 1A written statement of the grievance signed by the complainant shall be submitted to the District's Civil Rights Coordinator within five (5) business days of receipt of answers to the informal complaint.
The Coordinator shall further investigate the matters of grievance and reply in writing to the complainant within five (5) business days.
Step 2If the complainant wishes to appeal the decision of the District's Civil Rights Coordinator, s/he may submit a signed statement of appeal to the Superintendent of Schools within five (5) business days after receipt of the Coordinator's response.
The Superintendent shall meet with all parties involved, formulate a conclusion and respond in writing to the complainant within ten (10) business days.
Step 3If the complainant remains unsatisfied, s/he may appeal through a signed written statement to the Board of Education within five (5) business days of his/her receipt of the Superintendent's response in step two.
In an attempt to resolve the grievance, the Board of Education shall meet with the concerned parties and their representative within twenty (20) business days of the receipt of such an appeal.
A copy of the Board's disposition of the appeal shall be sent to each concerned party within ten (10) business days of this meeting.
The District's Coordinator, on request, will provide a copy of the District's grievance procedure and investigate all complaints in accordance with this procedure.
A copy of each of the Acts and the regulations on which this notice is based may be found in the District Coordinator's office.
